What happens when goods and services are provided, but the consumer customer claims his/her account was not authorized to be debited? What is the process and what are a billers’ obligations and rights when investigating consumer ACH debits returned as unauthorized that the biller suspects to be fraudulent?

ACH debit transactions are a popular consumer bill payment method, where consumers authorize funds to be deducted directly from their bank accounts. A key bank account control and protection for consumers is the ability to claim a debit was unauthorized and have funds returned; this can also be an avenue for consumer fraud.

Though the overall volume of this type of consumer fraud is very low, these incidents translate into biller dollar losses and labor costs. To clarify the process for challenging unauthorized ACH debit claims, and the role of the ACH Network in resolving these disputes, this webinar will:
